WOOLBABA is designed and produced in its entirety in South Africa.
Hand-picked from some of the worlds' finest 1st Grade natural sheepskin nurtured and processed on a family sheep farm in Zululand. WOOLBABA is responsibly tanned leaving less than 1% non-toxic hexavalent chrome remaining only on the hind-side of it. The coat itself is not tanned but rather deeply washed, conditioned with natural, non-toxic spray and meticulously brushed. Each WOOLBABA is shorn to the perfect length to perfectly balance softness and density for its' supernatural powers, as per the latest safety guidelines.
WOOLBABA is thermoregulating, hypoallergenic, flame retardant and anti-bacterial. It even keeps itself clean! Lanolin (a naturally occuring thin waxy coating on the fibres) repels water, dust and dirt and inhibits the growth of allergens.
WOOLBABA can be used from birth and after Baba has outgrown the pram and carriers, it can be used as a chair throw or play mat.

Not 110% happy with your WOOLBABA? You are welcome to send it back for a full refund. Please contact us at hello@woolbaba.co.za within 24 hours of receiving your WOOLBABA to arrange a return. Returns are for your account via Courier Guy.

We aim to get your WOOLBABA to you in the quickest possible time with Courier Guy usually between 5 - 7 business days.

Naturally hypoallergenic and antibacterial. Proven to reduce allergies and asthma in babies.
In other words, WOOLBABA helps Baba cool down when they overheat, and warm up when they get cold!
A commonly overlooked benefit of lambskin is that it is a thermo-regulator. Its naturally thermostatic qualities mean that your baby will be kept warm and cosy in colder winter months and be cooled down in the summer. Sheepskin is breathable and naturally crimped, allowing air to flow through the fibres, creating air pockets and keeping your Baba’s skin ventilated. The fibres wick away moisture, discouraging sweat build-up and keeping Baba’s skin dry since the sheepskin is impermeable. Sheepskin’s absorbent fibres simply draw the moisture into the heart of the fibres (and therefore away from baby’s skin!).
ANTI-BACTERIAL
To the relief of parents, and because sheepskin is made of entirely protein fibres, it does not lend itself to the development and multiplication of bacteria. This means that sheepskin requires very little by way of cleaning. Since sheep have evolved into hardy outdoor animals, their wool has developed to inhibit bacteria, fungi and dust mites – common causes of allergies. They also resist bed bugs and mould growth. Studies (the European Respiratory Society International Congress) have been conducted which have found that babies who sleep on animal skins in their first three months are 70% less likely to develop asthma by age 10. These children also experienced less hay fever and wheezing. The science behind it is simple. – animal fur is loaded with beneficial microscopic organisms that help to bolster a baby’s immune system.

WOOLBABA can be used in the pram, bouncer, bassinet (under your fitted sheet for sleeping as per SIDS guidelines), day basket, high-chair, as a playmat for tummy time, and our favorite: in the carrier for the ultimate cuddles. A dozed-off Baba can then be picked up with WOOBABA and transferred to their sleeping spot.

Each WOOLBABA is unique: selected on the farm, brought to Cape Town, and then cut, clipped, branded, brushed, sprayed with a nourishing antibacterial conditioning spray, and packaged - all by hand.
SOOTHING FOR BABA
It is little-known fact that sheepskin liners are also an electrical semiconductor, creating a calming effect as a result of eliminating the muscular tension and stimulating the circulation in tissues. This along with the natural bounce of sheepskin provides optimum natural support. The thick fibre density of sheepskin cushions your baba's body too, providing optimal support and evenly distributing weight. Little ones are kept settled for longer with the perfect natural cushion.
FIRE RETARDANT
Sheepskin is naturally fire retardant due to its high water and nitrogen content. This means it would require far more oxygen in order to burn it. This, in comparison to highly flammable viscose, lyocel, nylon and polyester that also melts when burning.
REDUCTION OF ASTHMA
Lambskin is naturally hypoallergenic and researchers have also found that the microbes in lambskin can boost the immune system and reduce the chances of developing asthma later in life. A German study found that babies who had slept on lambskin for the first 3 months of their life had 41% less chance of having asthma by the age of 10.
SAFE FOR SLEEP: BUT NOT FACE-DOWN
As proven, sheepskin is excellent for sleep due to its' innate soothing effects. However, Baba should not sleep face-down. As per SIDS guidelines, we recommend you place your WOOLBABA underneath the crib or cosleeper's fitted sheet for extra safety.
